NHL Slapshot is a sports game (focused on ice hockey) for the Wii developed and published by Electronic Arts. It is the first and only game in the series for the Wii. It is licensed by the National Hockey League (NHL) and its Player's Association, and endorsed by former player Wayne Gretzky.

Upon it's release in 2010, it came bundled with the NHL Slapshot hockey stick peripheral designed specifically for NHL Slapshot. Both the game and the stick can also be purchased separately. It is the latest game in the NHL series to be released on a Nintendo console.

Plot[]

Gameplay[]

The game has 3 main gameplay modes plus a series of mini-games. "Peewee to Pros" allows the player to play through an entire hockey career from child junior leagues, up through the minor leagues and finally the NHL. "Stanley Cup Final" allows the player to play hockey in a tournament style. "Season" allows for regular season play in three different leagues. The mini-games include "Free 4 All", "2v2 Mini Rink", "Shooter vs. Goalie", and "Classic Shootout".

The hockey stick peripheral was created specifically for this game, giving the player a much more realistic feel than the regular Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

As in the real-world sport of hockey, the object is to score more goals than the opposing team to win the game.

Teams[]

All the 30 NHL teams appear in the game, along with teams from the Canadian Hockey League and American Hockey League.
