The following things is what you should avoid doing on the Nintendo Wiki:
Do not add fanfiction[]
There are various Wikias devoted to fanfiction regarding a wide range of topics, even one specifically for Nintendo. This is not a place where you should create fictional stories based on your favorite video games, but rather add information straight from the video games.
Do not add speculation[]
Fans tend to add rumors to pages of upcoming games. For example, I can't even count how many times I had to revert edits done to the Super Smash Bros. Brawl page due to people saying, "they're saying Cloud Strife is going to be in the game!!!". Please - no speculation - if it's not been officially reported or seen through videos, images, or critics' previews then it's probably fake.
Wide spread rumors may be added to pages as long as they are clearly noted as rumors and have a citation. However pure speculation is not allowed.
You don't need to ask[]
Some things require votes by many users, though usually you should take one of Wikipedia's most prominent policies and be bold. Edit a page - you don't really need to ask, we're not a democracy.
Do not add your opinions[]
Yes, as much as you might hate or love a certain game - you should always leave the judging to the critics. If you really feel like you should voice your opinions, then please do so on your user page - where it will be heard by at least a few users!
This Wiki is not a forum[]
A lot of people tend to believe that the "talk" pages for each article are actually a forum to discuss the topic. In reality, the talk page is to discuss the article and how to improve it. This is a common misconception, and discussing the subject instead of the article won't result in a ban, but it is nonetheless highly discouraged, and after doing so a user might ask that the person refrain from discussing the topic.
