Nintendo K'NEX sets were released in 2011 and were based on Nintendo's popular Wii video game Mario Kart Wii. The K'NEX packages included pieces that players could use to build K'NEX versions of Mario characters including Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach and Bowser, as well as several obstacles and go-karts that the characters can ride in.

The following is from Michael Araten, president of K'NEX:

"Our partnership with Nintendo is a win-win. It lets K’NEX bring popular and recognizable characters to life in a new way and provides an opportunity for kids to interact with Nintendo outside of the gaming console."
