Nintendo World is a shop owned and run by Nintendo in New York City, New York. Opened in 2005, the store sells video games and merchandise created by Nintendo and its third parties. The store has received various awards at the 35th Annual Institute of Store Planners/Visual Merchandising and Store Design (ISP/ VM + SD) International Store Design Competition Award, including "Store of the Year" and "First Place Specialty Store over 10,000 Square Feet".

Sections

  • Wii
    • Game Station: Play over 12 different Wii video games.
    • Library: A large section dedicated to Wii games for the player to purchase.
    • Wii Experience: Took the place of the GameCube pods. Here players can experience selected Wii games on large screens.
    • Wii Interactive Area: Quickly play a short game on Wii and then enter the store. This is near the entrance.
  • Nintendo DS
    • DS Circle: Play with other Nintendo DS owners in a large circle.
    • DS Sampling Bar: Request a Nintendo DS video game to play before you buy. This took the place of the Game Boy Advance Bar.
  • Pokémon Center: A Pokémon section with Pokémon merchandise, games, etc.

Previous sections

  • Game Boy Advance Bar: A bar that lets you choose a GBA game to play. Once you get your game, you're able to play it at the bar.
  • GameCube pods: You sit in egg-shaped chairs while playing selected Gamecube games.

Store hours

  • Monday-Thursday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
  • Sunday: 11:00 am to 6:00 pm

On kid networks (such as Cartoon Network, Nick, etc.) there were commercials showing different products in 2009. Like throwing Pikmin Plushies around or playing with Mario plushies. The cast would also simply talk about the products there too.
