Nintendo World Championship 1990 is a game that was awarded to winners after the 1990 Nintendo World Championship.
This game was a time trial where you had to play through the levels of three games (Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, Tetris) within a set time limit and then your score was tallied up.
This game, used at the tournament was then given to all people who participated with gold cartridges being awarded to the top players and the rest receiving the standard gray cartridges. They are the same as a regular game except that they have an opening with switches on the spine.
In 2008, Retrozone made replicas of the cartridge for play on the Nintendo Entertainment System due to the fact that emulators of the game tended not to be very accurate in timing of the games. The game comes in a cobalt blue shell without switches to prevent it from being confused for a official cart.
