PKFreezebrawl

Lucas using PK Freeze in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

PK Freeze (JP) (PSI Freeze in EarthBound) is an offensive PSI move used all three EarthBound games. In the first two games, it targets a one enemy, has a chance of averting an enemies movement for one turn, and decreasing its Psychic Shield strength by 1, and in EarthBound Beginnings by diminishing an enemies HP to a critical state or damaging all enemies with PK Freeze Ω.

PK Freeze is realized in EarthBound Beginnings by Ana, in EarthBound by Paula and Poo, and in Mother 3 by Kumatora.

Super Smash Bros. series

Super Smash Bros. Brawl / for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Lucas fires a PSI-based snowflake, charging it while it flies, it shortly bursts (depending on the charge duration) freezing anyone nearby, dealing 20% damage. PK Freeze dissipates if it touches is terrain or of Lucas takes a hit, he'll also enter a helpless falling animation if he uses PK Freeze while airborne. Therefore the player must jump and press B button to maximize the attack.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Ness can customize his Standard Special, PK Flash, into PK Freeze, while not visually appearing as a snowflake (unlike Lucas'), but instead resembles PK Flash with a light/grayish blue color.

Custom Variations

PK Freeze

PK Freeze is one of Ness' Standard Special's that is customizable. This move works identically to PK Flash, but it moves slower and deals less damage as well as being able to travel a further distance than PK Flash. Strengths

  • Leaves opponents open to attacks (depending on the damage taken)
  • More distance
  • Can KO opponents at higher percentages
  • Rosalina can't absorb the projectile with Gravitational Pull

Weaknesses

  • Slower
  • Ineffective to opponents at lower percentages
  • Can be reflected and absorbed
  • Deals less damage
  • Leaves Ness vulnerable
