Phantoon is an enemy boss who appeared in the SNES Metroid title Super Metroid. It can be found in the level titled "wrecked ship", which the boss obtains power from. It resembles a ghost, and apparently is one. Its sole weakspot is its lone eye. Everything else on its body is invulnerable to Samus Aran's attacks.
According to the game's official manual, Phantoon uses its powers to tap into Mother Brain's brain waves, which causes it to be an ally of the Space Pirates.
Once the deadly boss is defeated, the Coverns, enemies who appeared on the ship, will stop appearing. It is unknown why.
