Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (Sonic Toon: Island Adventure in Japan) is a platformer game for the Nintendo 3DS. It was developed by Sanzaru Games and published by Sega. It is the companion game to Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. It is based on the Sonic Boom television series on Cartoon Network. Shattered Crystal is often considered the better game out of the two Sonic Boom video games released in 2014.

Gameplay

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal  is a mostly 2D game unlike Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric which is in mostly 3D. It has a bigger focus on solving different types of puzzles than Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. The game has a map which is on the bottom screen to show where the player is at in that level. To progress though many of the levels, the player must switch between the characters and use each character's abilities to solve many different puzzles. For example, there are three different types of stages: Rival Races, Adventure stages and Speed Stages.
