Sonic Drift (Series)
This game was the first Sonic racing game released in the US. The first Sonic Drift was a Japan-exclusive until it was included on Gamecube compilations years later. Sonic Drift 2 was released to the Sega Game Gear and features Sonic, Knuckles, Eggman, Metal Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Nack. Due to the space limit for names, Knuckles name was misspelled as "Knucles". Although the first game was a Japan exclusive, the 2 was retained on US ports.
This game was released for both the PC and the Sega Saturn. It featured a fully 3D interface with broadly detailed racetracks, complete with shortcuts either by skipping the normal part of the track or opening a door after collecting a certain amount of rings. Unlike Sonic Drift 2, Sonic R involved footracing. The characters involved included Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Metal Sonic, Super Sonic, Amy, and Eggman. A secret character known as Tails Doll was also included.
The PC version was ported to the Gamecube on the Sonic Gems Collection.
