The Star Rod is a reward in Mario Party 8. MC Ballyhoo awards the player the Star Rod for becoming the Star Carnival's superstar. Immediately after the player claims the Star Rod, Bowser appears and steals it. The player chases Bowser to a board called Bowser's Warped Orbit. The Star Rod is only used to attack Bowser in the mini-game Superstar Showdown.
