Super Macho Man is a Punch-Out!! boxer that debuted as the final opponent in Super Punch-Out!! in arcades. He has made various appearances since then. In the games he is from Hollywood, California, and his statistics have been slightly altered from game to game, as has his ranking. As of yet the character has appeared in Super Punch-Out!!, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Super Punch-Out!! for the SNES, and most recently Punch-Out!! for the Wii.

Super Macho Man first appeared in Super Punch-Out!! for the arcades where he was the last character you fought. He had a punch so potent that it would knock the player out in one hit. This attack, appropriately titled a Macho Punch, can only be dodged by ducking at just the right moment.

He next appeared in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Entertainment System. When Nintendo's license with Tyson ran out, they rereleased it as Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream. The only omission in the game was Mike Tyson as the final boss, and was replaced by Mr. Dream. Super Macho Man's appearance was distorted and didn't resemble what he looked liked in the game's portrait of him.

If at any time when you fight Super Macho Man in Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! or Punch Out!! he hesitates for a long time, this is your indication to get ready for a fast punch that has little warning. If you were to knock him down & he got up, he would perform the punch. Although it's easier to dodge because he winds up before he does it, be warned he does it up to 6 times in a row.

Legacy[]

Action figures of Super Macho Man made by Hasbro have been released. In an episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, one of the questions was "Which of the following is not a character in Punch-Out!!?", and one of the options was Super Macho Man. He was obviously not the correct answer. Super Macho Man, among various other characters, appeared in a Nintendo Comics System comic about Punch-Out!!. In Fox and Hounds, a Nintendo Comics System comic, Super Macho Man is first seen fighting Little Mac and losing. He is later shown at another gym, where Reg makes an agreement with Super Macho Man to send in the minions, with Super Macho Man himself being the final opponent when Little Mac beats the 99 minions. When Little Mac reaches the City Hall steps, Super Macho Man fights Little Mac and loses again.
