Chloé Bunet support Engage

A support conversation between Chloé and Bunet in Fire Emblem Engage.

Supports are a feature in the Fire Emblem series, first introduced in Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, the third game in the series. They are a system of connections between different characters in the games that provide bonuses to them in battle. In most recent games in the series, supports are accompanied by special dialogue between characters, typically referred to as "support conversations".

Types of supports[]

Bond supports[]

Used in Mystery of the Emblem, Thracia 776, Path of Radiance, and Radiant Dawn, bond supports are fixed bonuses between characters that have a relation to each other. For instance, in Path of Radience, the siblings Geoffrey and Lucia have a 5% Critical Bonus.

Love system[]

The love system only appears in Genealogy of the Holy War. By having pairs of non-familial male and female characters fight alongside each other, as well as triggering certain events, the number of points between these pairs will increase. A couple achieving 500 points will result in them getting married, resulting in them having a child (tied to the mother) and being unable to marry other units.

Support[]

The most common type of support, appearing in The Binding Blade, The Blazing Blade, The Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Awakening, Fates, Shadows of Valentia, Three Houses, Engage, and the spin-offs Warriors, Heroes, and Warriors: Three Hopes. These games feature tiered supports from C to A. Certain games also have supports that go beyond this, with some having S-supports and Engage having a Ring Support between Alear and another character. In these games support points are increased by having characters fight near or assist each other. The supports in these games are largely accompanied by conversations that offer more information on the characters involved and their stories.

Prior to Awakening, only five support conversations could be viewed in a playthrough.

In some games, characters can achieve paired endings with A- or S-supports. A-support endings range from platonic to romantic, while S-support endings are always explicitly romantic. Engage only features paired endings with Alear and another character, which is called a Ring Support instead of an S-support. Ring Supports are not always romantic, and can achieved with one character Alear has an A-support with. Aside from this there are no paired endings in Engage. Warriors: Three Hopes does not feature paired endings, but the protagonist Shez can gift their Merc Whistle to one character they have an A-support with, which results in them giving Shez a special item and sending them a letter following the credits.
