Takao Sawano is a Nintendo employee and the former general manager of the EAD Technology Development Department. He was originally hired in 1978 as a part of Nintendo R&D2 and was in charge of development of several peripherals, like the Famicom controller, the Famicom Disk System and the Nintendo 64DD (where he was in charge of producing the Mario Artist series)

Currently he has a mostly supportive role, but he also worked as a producer for the Wii Balance Board despite being off hardware for several years.
