Torchic (アチャモ, Achamo) is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a Fire Pokémon that made its first appearance in the third generation games Ruby and Sapphire.

Physiology and Behaviour

Appearances

Main Pokémon games

It was a popular starter in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and their remake Pokémon Emerald, due to the fact that it eventually evolves into Blaziken, which is one of the few Pokémon to learn moves like Blaze Kick and Sky Uppercut. After evolving, it gains a Fighting type, which can be good or bad. However, if the player keeps it as Torchic, it will learn Flamethrower, and if they evolve it, it will learn Double Kick and other physical moves.

Other Pokémon games

Super Smash Bros. series

It appears as a Pokéball in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and when summoned sets an area on fire surrounding itself that damages the user's enemies. It also appears as a trophy. The following is Torchic's trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl:

Trophy descriptions

"A Chick Pokémon. It's a Fire type that has a flame sac in its belly where it produces fireballs reaching 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit--it shoots these out of its mouth. While Torchic is as cute as can be, it will evolve into the powerful Combusken when it levels up. It also then becomes a combination Fighting and Fire type."
