According to recent comments by Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo's Wii successor will not feature 3D graphics like its smaller counterpart, the Nintendo 3DS.
"Glasses-free is a big deal," Fils-Aime told CNN, "We've not said publicly what the next thing for us will be in the home console space, but based on what we've learned on 3-D, likely, that won't be it."
But with Nintendo you never know what they will come up with! They have been very quiet on what the Wii 2, or whatever their next home console might be called, will feature. Current gossip is that Nintendo will announce the successor to the Wii this year's E3 or at the Tokyo Game Show later this year...

Guess what Mario lovers! Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that he is working on a New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS!
"In the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS system," Miyamoto said.
Miyamoto said of Mario's enduring family appeal, "it's important to always use the most advanced technology for Mario in order to create something no one has ever seen before." While he made no further hints as to how Mario's 3DS game will explore previously unseen territory, he confessed his desire to show the game "as soon as possible."

Metroid fans might be in luck! According to UK media personality Jonathan Ross, Nintendo may be announcing that their updated DS, the 3DS, will be getting a Metroid game! So get ready for Samus in 3-D!
In a Twitter exchange covered by IGN, a fan told Ross that while he "[didn't] expect [Ross] to spill anything," he had his "fingers crossed for Metroid." Ross wrote back, "I think you're going to be pleased then..."
Ross, by the way, may best be known to gamers for accidentally announcing Fable III...
