The attacks caused many dramatic affects on the Nintendo/Advance Wars series. First of all, the first two Advance Wars video games - Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising weren't released in Japan until November of 2004 because of the attacks. It was released in America just two days prior to the attacks, and the game was delayed until January in Europe because of the event.

The GameCube was released on September, 14th of 2001 in Japan and four days later in America. The attacks on the World Trade Center drastically affected the sales of the GameCube (as well as the Xbox).

References

The attacks on the world trade center have also been referenced in video games as well, including -

  • Spider-Man 2 - In one section of the city (New York), you'll be able to go to where the Trade Centers fell at night and see the lights shine out of the ground, representing the Trade Centers, just as they do in real life.
  • True Crime: New York City - The area where the Trade Centers fell is fenced off.
  • Driver: Parrel Lines (Wii) - In the first part of the game which takes place in 1978, the towers are present, though in the portion which takes place in 2006, they're understandably gone.
