Walhart is a character from the 3DS game Fire Emblem: Awakening. Walhart is the emperor of the Valm Empire, which he forged through a long and bloody conquest of the Valm continent. He is often compared to the ancient Exalted King Alm, however he lacks the compassionate guidance of his wife Celica.

History

Walhart hailed from the tiny nation of Valm, a country which shared its name with the greater continent. He dreamed of uniting all the people regardless of religion or creed under one banner, just the ancint Kingdom of Valentia once had. Walhart raised an army and proceeded to conquer the neighboring kingdoms, killing all those who refused to bow before him.

After some time, the continent was finally unified, despite some continued resistance from the minor nobles. Soon, Walhart learned that King Validar of Plegia was attempting to resurect the ancient Dragon God Grima, and destroy the world. Walhart sent ships to Regna Ferox to claim the Fire Emblem, believing that only he could hold the Fire Emblem and save the world. Despite his intentions, Ylisse and Regna Ferox believed that Walhart only wanted to steal their lands and they formed an alliance with Plegia to defeat the empire.

After many tough battles, Walhart met Khan Basilio and Khan Flavia on the battlefied north of Fort Steiger. Walhart dueled the khans and was impressed at their stregnth, but ultimately was able to defeat Basilio. However, when he received news that General Yen'fay had fallen in battle, retreated back to his castle at northern Valm. After a series of battles against Prince Chrom, Walhart was defeated and his empire dissolved.

Despite his defeat, Walhart still managed to escape with his life. He traveled to the Conqueror's Whetstone, and battled hoardes of Risen day and night. When Chrom discovered him, Walhart agreed to help him only if Chrom would face him in battle once again. Chrom defeated him a third time, and Walhart agreed to join his cause.
