Whispy Woods (ウイスピーウッズ, Uisupī Uzzu) is a recurring boss in the Kirby series; he first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land and is a large apple tree that has a face and a branch-like nose. He attacks by dropping large apples on Kirby, spitting puffs of air, and stabbing his roots up at Kirby. If Kirby doesn't have a copy ability, he must inhale the falling apples and spit them back at Whispy. He generally appears as the first boss in many Kirby games.

Whispy Woods hasn't made many appearances outside of the Kirby series, but within this juggernaut of a franchise he has appeared in 12 video games and even the anime. He's one of the most popular bosses in the series, albeit one of the easiest as well. Unfortunately there is not copy abilit from Whispy Woods, presumably because of its large size. Most of the time Whispy is the first, or one of the first bosses faught. King Golem from Kirby & the Amazing Mirror is the Mirror World counterpart of Whispy Woods.

Super Smash Bros.

In the Super Smash Bros. series, Whispy Woods has made an appearance in every game, as a background character on the Dream Land and Green Greens stages. He interferes with the fighters by blowing them around with his mighty breath and in Green Greens dropping apples that fighters can use as throwing weapons. In Melee the player could collect a trophy of him.

The following is Whispy Woods' trophy description:

A boss enemy from Kirby's Dream Land. Whispy Woods is a big tree that shoots whirlwinds at Kirby. It isn't the toughest enemy: all Kirby has to do is avoid the occasional whirlwind, suck in apples that fall down, and then shoot them back at the tree. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Whispy Woods is quite the blowhard.

Trivia
