Wii U Pro Controller is a controller for the Wii U. It is an updated version of the Wii Classic Controller for the Wii U. It sends wireless signals to the console via Bluetooth. The Wii U Pro Controller does not come with the Wii U system; unlike the Wii U GamePad. The Wii U Pro Controller does come with a lengthy charging cable that can be used on the GamePad too.

The Wii U Pro Controller is for people who want something more comfortable, more simple, small, and more mobile than the big Wii U GamePad. The controller shares the same buttons as the Wii U GamePad, and without, the screen, it resembles a Xbox 360 controller. The lightweight nature of the controller makes it fine for long play sessions. The battery life for a full charge is very long, losing its charge at around 80 hours.

Unfortunately, the Wii U Pro Controller has no earphone/headset jack. If the player wants to use voice chat , they will have to set down your Wii U GamePad next to them and connect the headset to that to communicate. It is worth noting the Wii U Pro Controller is not compatible with the Wii mode or digital Wii games as well. Instead, the player must use one of the Wii's controllers like the Wii Remote.

Trivia

  • The Wii U Pro Controller was announced at E3 2012 by Nintendo.
  • The controller uses Bluetooth to connect to the Wii U like the Wii Remote so, there is way to play with more than 7 of either controller in any combination. This is not applicable in most cases but, there are some games like Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Runbow where the max player count isn't possible with just Wii Pro Controllers.
