World 1-1 is the name of multiple stages in the Mario series of video games. Without a doubt it is one of the more memorable stages in all of video gaming, comparing that of Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and many others. The stage first appeared in Super Mario Bros., and would later appear in a collective of other sidescrolling Mario titles. It even was one of 2 new scrolling stages in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
[edit] Super Mario Bros.
The original stage first appeared in Super Mario Bros. It features 16 Goombas, 13 ? Blocks, 6 Warp Pipes and 41 Coins.
The first part of the level features Goombas, a bunch of warp pipes and a ? block that releases a mushroom. The last pipe in the image above will lead to a coin room where you'll be given access to a collosal amount of coins.
This next part features another ? box with yet another power up (either a mushroom or a fire flower depending on your character's status). Goombas and Koopa Troopas patrol the area and the first of many multi-coin blocks is found beyond the gap.
This is the final area, and there are only two Goombas in this area. Once you get to the flag at the end of the level, you'll be able to progress to World 1-2, the first underground level in the game.
