Yukio Kaneoka
Yukio Kaneoka
Company Nintendo R&D2
Current Position Sound Engineer
First game Donkey Kong (arcade)
Latest game F-Zero

Yukio Kaneoka was one of the earliest sound designers to work at Nintendo. Working at the R&D2 Department, he was tasked with providing the basic fanfares of most arcade titles and some early Famicom games, including Donkey Kong and Mario Bros., often working along Hirokazu Tanaka.

Kaneoka mentored famed composer Koji Kondo upon his entrance in Nintendo, teaching him the basics of sound engineering and sound effect programming. According to Kondo, Kaneoka was a graduate in electrical engineering who "had a lot of interest in music", without having an actual educational background in music.

With 1990's F-Zero being the last game crediting him as a developer, it is unknown what's the current occupation of Kaneoka, although he got supervisor credits for Mario Tennis and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
